Extra innings

As we celebrate DREAM’s 30th Anniversary year, our team is exploring more ways to stay connected and engaged with you, the founding members of our growing alumni network. An important new component of that effort will be the monthly alumni newsletter below, aptly titled Extra Innings. While this name plays homage to our baseball roots, it also conveys our belief that your relationship with DREAM continues well beyond your “regulation” time with the organization. Post-graduation, beyond your time as a Legend, alumni will always be part of the DREAM family, and will always be crucial to our success.

Extra Innings will provide you with organizational updates, employment/volunteer opportunities, information about upcoming events at DREAM, interesting stories, and more. See an archive of Extra Innings below:

welcoming new faces

Hi all, I'm Zalika May, DREAM's new Alumni Engagement Manager. I'll be supporting our middle school and Legends alumni with programming, events, resources, and more! I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY. For undergrad, I attended Bowdoin College and received a BA in Africana Studies, with a minor in Sociology. I also received my master's in School Counseling from Brooklyn College. I've worked at DREAM since 2017 and previously supported middle school students with high school exploration and career readiness. In this work, I have enjoyed helping our youth access academic and career-based resources, as well as organize events to keep them connected to DREAM and one another. I'm looking forward to getting to know more Legends and Legends alumni and continuing this work with the Legends community!

Mikasa joined the Legends team as the Career Development Manager in July. She’s a Bronx native and has resided in Boston, Washington, D.C. and New Orleans in the past 9 years. She is most proud when she sees the young people she’s supported thrive in their early adulthood and in their respective fields. She will be supporting Legends by connecting them to professional development opportunities, internships and full-time positions with new and current career partnerships.
